Royal Blood

Call me King of my People
I rule no one, yet all their will comes together in me
I make no decisions, yet here I speak with you decisively
I have no demands, yet of my strength and weakness
I will sing sweetly
A kindness done to me, you do to all of my kind.

Call me Queen of my People
I punish no one, yet all find me just
I call you neither this, nor that
but instead invite you to share with me
the song in your heart
Though wounded by you,
I will not let the Sun set
on our tattered affections
We will weave a new robe together,
you the weft,
I the warp

This is a beautiful poem/puzzle.One thought is that the word “yet” implies to me that the two sentiments in the pairing are commonly believed to be mutualy exclusive, thus making it a paradox. For example; “I make no decisions, yet here I speak with you decisively” feels like a tasty little paradox where as “I punish no one yet all hurts heal in my presence” feels odd, as if the act of healing were an extension of punishment. If I were you I would let the comma take the place of “yet”. Whew! That was a whole lotta talking over a little word.
Super solid landing by the way “You the weft, I the warp.” beautiful.

Concensus and oneness of mind! The paradox that is not really a paradox well versed. I am sending the link to my PSU crew who is currently doing research in the Peacemaker Principles for our next potluck.
