I've actually been thinking a lot about nonhuman influences on dreaming and general story telling altogether, lately... and I wonder, if sleeping outside, especially somewhere with more wildlife intact, could change my dreams. I mean, if instead of static around you all night you heard the sounds outside, of living things other than yourself and your man-made world. "The time called Dreamtime, Myth, and ‘the time when Animals and Humans still spoke the same language’ didn’t come first, it comes deepest." ^ That just about made me jump up and squeal in joy (repressed energy much?), I don't know exactly why, it helped connect something in my head that's been floating around a bit disconnected. Thank you for writing such wonderful things. Reading this made me happy. I myself received a dream asking me to sleep outside. It did transform my dreaming life in some crazy ways! I sleep outside when I want to retrigger that vivid connection to dream. And also when I want to hear the mice squeaking in my compost bin. Thanks for your story!
